on
completion

6
A
length

18
metres
from
the
footer.
The
back
of
the
footer
must
be
at
least
1
metre
from
the

of
the
bowling
surface

no
more

than
2
metres.
The
jack
must
stop
on
the
bowling
surface
and
be
set
in
the
centre
of
the
mat.
If
the
jack
goes
off
at
any
end
it
must
be
returned
for
the
opposing
team
to
send.
If
the
jack
goes
off
again
it
is
then
placed
on
the
full
length
mark.
An
end
does
not
commence
until
the
jack has been set.
7
If
the
jack
is
moved
by
a
running
bowl
and
leaves
the
rink
sideways
or
touches
the
sideboards
before
the

it

placed
on
the
Side
Spots which are 1 metre each side and 1 metre behind the full length jack spot.
8
The

the
away

will
play
with
the
red
disc
bowls.
The
home
team
will
send
the
jack
at
the
1st end. The away team captain will make out the match form and score cards, and the home team captain will match up the pairings.
9
When matches are in progress, only players and referees will be allowed onto the playing surface.
10
Players must wear flat smooth soled shoes or slippers and NOT trainers.
11
Players may change their order of play at any time during the match.
12
If
one
team
fails
to
fulfil

fixture
in
full
at
the
stated
date
and
time,
the
other
team
is
awarded
6
points
and
aggregate
24-0.
If
both
teams
fail
to
fulfil
a
fixture,
no
points
or
aggregate
will
be
awarded
to
either
team.
If
a
team
can
only
field
1
pair,
this
game
will
be
played
and
the
winner
receives 2 points. For the game not played, the offending team will concede 2 points and aggregate 0-12.
13
If a player inadvertently moves a bowl, the bowl shall be replaced to its original position as agreed by both players at the head.
14
During
the
course
of
play,
where
a
running
bowl
directly
or
is
deflected
off
another
bowl
touches
the
jack,
it
is
a
TOUCHER
and
shall
be
marked
by
a
player
or
referee.
A
toucher
bowl
which
goes
into
the
ditch
shall
remain
where
it
stops
and
deemed
to
still
be
in
play.
Should
a
toucher
bowl
in the ditch be disturbed by subsequent bowls, it must be replaced to its original position.
15
If
the
jack
is
moved
by
a
running
bowl
and
goes
off
the
end
of
the
mat,
it
either
stays
where
it
lands,
or
if
it
hits
the
back
board,
it
will
be
placed
as
near
to
the
point
it
hits
the
board,
as
can
be
recalled
by
either
of
the
2
bowlers,
spectators
or
marker
at
the
head,
and
all
remaining
bowls
played to that point. Any measuring shall be from that position.
16
The
scores
on
the
match
score
card
are
to
be
agreed
and
recorded
on
the
match
form,
signed
by
the
team
captains,
and
handed
into
the
Organiser.
17
After
the
final
bowl
at
each
end,
the
players
from
each
team
agree
the
number
of
counting
bowls.
If
any
bowls
need
measuring
this
will
take
place after removal of other bowls not involved. The agreed final score to be signalled to the markers.
18
6 points are awarded in each match based on 2 for a win, 1 for a draw and 2 for the aggregate.
19
A
verbal
warning
to
players
at
the
head
should
be
given
by
a
bowler
before
playing
a
striking
shot,
and
undue
speed
must
NOT
be
used.
Any
bowler
striking
without
warning
shall
forfeit
the
end
and
award
6
chalks
to
the
opposing
team.
The
offending
player
can
be
cautioned
by
any
member of the AIBL committee, which will remain in place for the entire season.

put
out
the
equipment
(bowls,
mats,
measures,
chalk)
and
manage
the
clock
and
bell.
Players
at
4pm
are
expected
to
remove all equipment from the mats into the cage, prior to the Centre staff uplifting the mats.
21
If
a
player
bowls
an
opponent’s
bowl
in
error,
this
will
be
replaced
by
his
own
bowl,
with
the
opponent’s
bowl
returned
to
the
mat.
If
a
player
plays
out of turn, the bowl will be returned to the mat and play resumes in the correct order.
22
A
player
taken
ill
during
a
game
can
be
replaced
by
a
substitute
from
the
same
team,
provided
they
have
not
previously
played
that
day.
The
game will resume after the change of player.
23
If
a
player
kicks
in
any
bowl
before
the
end
is
completed,
the
bowl
will
be
replaced
to
its
original
position
as
agreed
by
both
teams.
If
the
jack
is
disturbed,
the
end
remains
as
it
was
before
the
disturbance.
If
the
opposing
team
still
has
a
bowl
to
send,
it
is
deemed
to
be
a
winning
bowl
and
added to the result as it was before the disturbance.
24
When
a
bowl
has
stopped,
if
any
part
of
that
bowl
is
touching
or
overhanging
any
part
of
the
tape
forming
the
base
line
it
is
deemed
to
be out of play, and will be removed from the mat.
25
Promotion
and
relegation
from
each
division
shall
be
on
a
2
up
and
2
down
basis
-
if
teams
finish
on
equal
points,
the
team
with
a
better
aggregate will determine the final league position. If the points & aggregate are identical, the Organisers will arrange a deciding match.
26
Any
dispute
not
covered
by
the
rules
and
which
cannot
be
amicably
settled
by
the
team
captains,
will
be

30/09/25.--------BILL -
Hi,
Reference
my
email
from
September
30th
which
I
sent
through
regarding
Darwen
and
Blackburn
unification
of
certain
indoor
bowling
rules.
Blackburn
have
now
had
a
rethink
on
a
couple
of
issues
discussed
and
relevant
rules
have
been
circulated.
These
are
the
alterations
to
my
previous email just to clarify which leagues are playing to which rules :-
1
-
In
the
Blackburn
league
if
a
bowl
is
touching
the
tape
or
even
fractionally
short
and
overhanging
the
tape,
then
that
bowl
is
classed
as
out
of
play.
In
the
Darwen
League,
the
tape
is
classed
as
the
lip
of
the
pretend
ditch
so
any
bowl
physically
touching
the
tape
is
classed
as
still
in
play.
Any
bowl
completely
past
the
tape
is
in
the
ditch
and
out
of
play.
To
me
this
seems
logical
and
common
sense
but now I am doubting my own sanity.
2
-
In
the
Blackburn
League,
any
block
that
hits
the
back
board
will
be
placed
where
the
said
object
actually
hit
the
back
board.
In
the
Darwen
League,
any
block
or
touching
bowl
that
hits
the
back
board
remains
where
it
comes
to
rest.
This
obviously
is
to
avoid
any
differences
of
opinion
because
we
don't
have
VAR.
The
only
time
that
it
would
be
replaced
where
it
hit
the
back
board
would
be
if
the
object
bounced
back
onto
the
rink
or
the
side wood.
I
hope
this
clarifies
everything
because
both
issues
have
been
mentioned
to
myself
after
the
rules
were
handed
out
at
Audley
and
I
don't
like
to
circulate
false
information
which
I
believed
to
be
true
at
that
time.
The
main
thing
is,
keep
bowling,
enjoy
the
social
aspect
and
respect
the
people
who are giving up their time to provide exercise and mental stimulation.
Regards - Bill - 07443525868.
